Dr. Al's trajectory
Alberto Rivera, MD, aka Dr. Al received undergraduate degree in BS from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 1996 and his medical doctorate from Ponce Health and Sciences Center in 2000. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY from 2001 to 2004, and his Spine and Musculoskeletal Pain Fellowship at the University of Florida under Dr.James Atchison from 2004 to 2005. He received his board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2004, Pain Medicine in 2011, and Disability Analyst while in private practice.
Dr. Al has been in private practice since August 2005. Since the beginning. he has been an unorthodox interventional pain physician who has been complementing western medicine with alternative medicine as a means to obtain sustainable relief. In 2005 he started lecturing physicians and providing continued medical education in pain management, regenerative medicine, medical cannabis, and the opioid crisis.
In 2016 together with a group of Puerto Rico industry leaders was involved in the foundation of a medical cannabis education organization, Cannaworks Institute. During all those years, his continued studying uncovered that most human diseases share very similar patterns at the cellular level that will later manifest in a different diagnosis depending on the individual. He understood aging as a disease that needs to be managed to avoid a nefarious course that can bring multiple disease processes to light. He also found that if the body's nutrients, hormones, and lifestyle are in balance, humans can become resilient to our current post-industrial, toxin-laden environment and processed nutrient-lacking foods. We can't stop aging, but we can age gracefully.
In 2017 Dr. Al moved to Florida with the hope of bringing his medical approach and making it available to more individuals in need of a healthier and more comprehensive alternative to our current standards. Dr. Al is an active member of the American Anti-Aging Academy of Medicine, the Androgen Society, Seeds Scientific Research and Performance Institute, and the Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
Dr. Al has received training in multiple surgical and pain management procedures including but not limited to botulinum toxin injections, mesenchymal stem cell therapy, platelet-rich plasma, thread face lifting, peptide therapy, and hormone balance. Dr. Al is currently in the process of completing his next board certification, Anti-Aging Medicine.
Dr. Al's treatment protocols offered a wide array of techniques that mix anti-aging medicine, regenerative medicine, hormone balancing, dietary modifications, and medical aesthelics to provide state-of-the-art care to all his patients.
